The Big ONE

Our little man turned one last Sunday, April 10th.  Crazy.  To celebrate, we threw a little party with some of Trey's favorite people. It was pretty crazy having that many people - especially kids - in our house, but we had a great time.  Unfortunately, Trey was still getting over a nasty ear infection, so he wasn't running on all cylinders.  But - he was a trooper!

My first time getting to see my birthday boy.  Mike and I were at a wedding in Spokane the night before and took really early flights out the next day so we could get home for the big day.

Trey loves his new play gym he got from Grandpa and Grammy A.  He plays on it pretty much non-stop.

He also got an awesome table and chairs from Grandpa and Grandma O.  He feels like such a big kid when he's sitting at it.  Mike wanted him to look like a really big kid and gave him a beer and a pocket knife.

 Cake time!

Wasn't sure what he thought of it at first...

Needed a little help from mom...

Wow - this is good!

Izzy couldn't stand just watching anymore. She needed some cake.

All the other kids joined in.

Happy First Birthday, sweet boy.  This has been the craziest, hardest, and best year of our lives.  We love you so so much!

Walking!

Last Sunday, Trey took his first steps! The hysterics that follow these steps are a result of him wanting the video camera.  It was pretty much impossible to get a video of him where he wasn't throwing a fit because we wouldn't give him the camera.  My apologies...

He's really figured things out in the past week and is now cruising around the house...

Ranch Baby

Last weekend, we packed it up and headed down to the Chico Basin Ranch for a fun party for family and friends who had March birthdays.  It was Trey's first trip there...and he LOVED it!  He partied hard, slept perfectly at night and cuddled with me in bed for 10 minutes when he got up in the morning (which he never does).  It was a great time!

The day before we got there, a sheep had triplets.  We got to see them when they were just about a day old.  So cute.  Trey wasn't too sure what to think about them.

Looking at all the baby horses.  Mike let him crawl through all kinds of animal dung in his PJ's.  Sometimes you've just got to learn to let go of some things as a mother :)

Updates...

Ok – so it’s been awhile. Oops. I have at least one excuse for my lack of blogging this past month – I dumped an entire cup of coffee onto my keyboard. I had to wait a few days to get my computer to work at all. Luckily, most of the keys work again, but the Backspace key does not. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to type without a backspace key, but it is incredibly tedious. When I make a mistake, I have to back up w ith the arrow keys and then use the delete key. So annoying. Oh well, someday I will have a computer with all its keys in working order and that doesn’t move as if it were on dial-up.

Anyways, here’s a few updates from the last month…

Mike:

• Still kicking butt at work.
• Kicking butt at fatherhood too. Loves to wrestle with Trey and describes everything he’s doing to him. Trey can’t get enough of his dad. He wakes up asking for “dada.”
• Went on a ski trip with his guys. Checked skiing Silverton off his bucket list.
• Is in 2 weddings in the next month (Joel’s and Jonathan’s – friends from college). Pretty sure these will be about the 24th and 25th weddings he’s been in in the past 5 years.

Tig:
• Loving my new job. It’s so nice to get out and be an adult a couple days a week.
• Randomly decided to paint/re-paint half my house last weekend (with the help of my handy husband of course). I’m kind of the queen of randomly taking on huge house projects.
• Turns 27 in a few days - weird.

Trey:
• Is becoming more of a little boy and less of a baby.
• Is into everything. Can crawl faster than I can walk and is scaling the furniture. Some of his favorite activities include: playing in the toilet, pulling the toilet paper off the roll and sticking it in his mouth, climbing any stair he sees, tugging on Bella’s ears, dumping Bella’s water bowl, emptying mom’s purse, pushing all the buttons on the remote, and attacking his teddy bear.
• Talking more and more each day. Says: “dada”, “mama”, “more”, “bella”, “book” and “no” (the last one is not so fun.
• When asked what sound an elephant makes, he replies by pursing his lips and blowing (and spitting all over).
• Is the best thing that’s ever happened to us.

Digging in my purse.

Loves everything electronic - computers, iPads, phones, remotes, etc...

Using his toy bucket as a stepping stool to get the remote.
Chewing on my lens cap and reading his favorite book - "Barnyard Dance."

Out for a family walk.

Back to Work

Over the past many months, I have contemplated whether or not I should try to go back to work part-time. For awhile, I put a lot of effort into searching for a job, but ended up feeling like it wasn't the right time. I just decided to put it in the Lord's hands and told myself that if he wanted me to work, he would provide the right opportunity...and last week he did. A family friend who is the director at a local Christian school (when I say local - I mean it's pretty much in my backyard) called me and said he might have a position for me. So, I went in to interview last Wednesday, was offered the job on Friday, and start this week! Pretty crazy! It's a great opportunity to work 2 days a week in the admissions office of the school. It will give me an opportunity to get out of the house and be around other adults (and kids too) - which I was in desperate need of. It will also give Trey an opportunity to hang with 2 of his favorite ladies - Grandmas Sherry and Julie.

So, here I go...back to the working world (well...kind of) :) Wish me luck!

My Kind of Morning

Sunday mornings are often hectic around here. We're always scrambling to get out the door in time for church. So when I got up this morning and saw an email saying that church had been cancelled (due to a broken heater in the building where we meet), I was kind of relieved. I love going to church, but not having it this morning gave us an opportunity to spend some quality family time around our new wood stove. Mike, along with his dad, brother, and brother-in-law, have been working on installing this stove for the past few months and they just finished it in time for a snowy day. The combination of my family, snow, and a warm fire made for a perfect morning...
